Lamakara - Hamibu and Amama
A drain blocked with rubbish and plants near Hamibu and Amama's house.
Hamibu , 70, and his wife Amama, 65, have lived in their Lamakara house for 60 years. As Tamale has grown, so have their problems. Rubbish is blocking the town’s drains causing flooding and an increasing number of people are using the field behind their house as a rubbish dump and open defecation site.
To cope with the flooding Hamibu and Amama built a wall around their house to keep the water out, but this is gradually being undermined.
